The reason the moon looks more yellow in the first phase is due to the fact it was still rising in the horizon (8.30pm) and light was coming through more of the atmosphere. During the second cycle, it was at around midnight and directly overhead, coming through less of the atmosphere, hence less atmoshperic coloring.
The first image was compiled using all original photographs taken over a 4 hour period.
The second picture was taken a while ago, one of the most clearest pictures I've ever taken. You can clearly see the Sea of Tranquility.
